If you see another boat in there poking around, just go to the other side and
throw a Buzz Bait around the grass and keep your eyes on your depth finder. They have a shallow creek that runs in
that cove, to get out of that channel you better have a push pole. That way you do not give away your spot and
don't worry, they bite there all day.
I want to see about this other spot I found one year. It was in the middle of the day and it surprised me as
much as the other person in the boat that day. It is almost out of Bear
on the right side a 75 foot bank that has some large rocks that are sticking up out of the water and one day I was
throwing a Buzz Bait in the middle of the day around the rocks that were up out of the water when a Small Mouth
jumped up out of the water and ate my Buzz Bait and that started it. That day we started catching bass after bass.
I pulled up on that same bank and right off the bat I did not see the shad running so that was one thing missing
that might keep the fish from biting.
I will start off with the Buzz Bait anyway to see If I can get anything to hit it. Just around the rocks looks like
a bass would jump out and grab that lure any minute but nothing, I do not know if you are like I am but every cast
I get that feeling that any second a explosion is about to happen and I have the guns loaded. Nothing happened so I
pick up the trolling motor up and crank the big motor and off I head across to the east side of the lake to another
small cove that has produced some Small Mouth on Buzz Baits, and I know I have said that a few times
already.
There is still a little grass still showing and I fire the Buzz Bait to the back
and no sooner than it hits the water than a explosions happens and a fight is on. The fish jumps out of the water
and lets me see him and now I know I have a Small mouth at least four pounds and he is going to let me feel every
pound of him, I love a good fight not to horse him in you just don't know when you will get another fish on that
will give you a good fight. As my luck run the Small mouth hit the side of the boat and fell off but I did thank
him for the fight. I caught a few more fish in that cove before I started to pull out when I saw a Wild Mother Pig
and Two Babies swimming toward the bank, must have been chased by something and that was the only out for
them.
