Swim Baits Do They Work To Land The Bass Hog

Bass Hog Loving The Yum Money Minnow

Yum Money Minnow Enticed This Bass Hog

These fish were caught using the Yum Money Minnow Swimbaits, about 2:30pm right up against the bank in about 2 feet of water. The water temp was 80 degrees with the air temp 76. It was partly sunny and there was a low over us when we were fishing.

I have been the one that says that Swim Baits do not work down South, but I stand corrected now seeing that I am tearing the bass up with this Swim Bait.

I choose the Yum Money Minnow Swimbaits 3.5 that comes in a pack of 5 for $8.99 at Bass Pro. My partner was using the 5 inch minnow and at times the Bass seem to want a larger meal.

The picture also shows that I decided on the Yum Money Minnow Swimbait Hooksthat comes in a four pack, they run about $4.99.

Yum Money Minnow Will Land The Bass Hog

The hooks come with a screw in the eye of the hook; this will screw into the the Swim Bait about where the minnows mouth should be located.

Under the minnow, you will see a split. This is where you want to run the hook through the slit and come out on the top of the minnow. Now comes to a situation that you must decide whether to keep the hook out or skin hook the tip. I think it depends on what you are fishing. Is it heavy cover, or no structure? I must tell you I caught most of the bass just outside patches of moss.

I would swim the bait just under the surface or swim it out a little then let it sink and jerk it once or twice. That would do the trick most of the time, and we found out that you do not want to use any kind of snap, tie directly to the hook for better action of the minnow.

The only draw back is that the material that the minnows are made of are not that strong and the minnow will only last two or three fish, before it is all tore up. Maybe it is that the fish were that hungry, but I went through three packages in a four hour trip, so you can see it can cost you a few bucks but in the long run when nothing else is working they seem to do the trick.

Don't forget from my web site, you can go order the minnows and hooks from Bass Pro by using the Yum Money Minnow links above.

Purchasing from the links help to keep the lights on here at the web site where I love sharing my knowledge and passion for bass fishing.
