Threading The Hook
A Simple Trick With Arthritis
What a way to start a article which I have done time after time again.
Age and Arthritis goes together then the sight, but I have a little trick to keep
you on the water fishing no matter how bad those finger and wrist hurt. Can't help with the eyes will have to talk
to your eye Doctor about that.
I have discovered since this past winter I have gotten older and the bones and
finger are all stoved when I get up. Holding the hot cup of coffee seems to loosen up the fingers some and if you
are not a coffee drinker soak your hands in warm water, a wrist brace for that wrist. At least it keeps from
throwing the rod over board and it takes some of the pain out. Watch out using Ben Gay or Deep Heat the fish do not
like either flavor.
This part is going to blow you away, I advise going to Walmart and pick up what I
am about to tell you. Do not get into your wife's sewing kit. Let me ask you how much time do you spend trying to
pass that line through a hook eye not once but two times? Well here is my secret and it really works!
Get a threader just like what your wife uses to thread her needles. Put the
threader through the hook then pass the mono or braid in the threader and pull it back through the hook. Turn hook
around and pass line back through the hook using the threader again....BINGO now was that easy or what?
As you can see, I sit around and figure out ways that will ensure ways to help my
fellow anglers or at least make things a little bit easier.
I found the threaders at Walmart for 19 cents for three of them or 29 cents for a
heavy duty plastic handle vice the tin handle. I can not recall seeing or hearing anything like this so maybe I am
the first. I bought several packages and I store them in a empty medicine plastic bottle.
Give it a try and you will see right away what I am talking about and let me know
what you think.
