The wind is starting to pick up and is blowing from the east toward the west and
it is right into the boat as I head across the lake toward State Line Island. I have again caught some fish on the
back side and as I proceed it is time for a cup of coffee as I travel. Wind can help at times and hurt other times
and you really have to watch it on the lake. It can get real bad fast at times. Always keep a eye on the
weather.
If the grass is up behind the island, try a white Spinner Bait and throw it in the
grass and rip it back out of the grass. The big bass should attack it just as it clears the grass. It is like they
are laying there just waiting for some food to pass in front of their face. If this does not work, pull your boat
where you can throw down the edge of the grass just on the outside and see if that works. The water is only about 7
feet deep that drops to 15 feet plenty deep to hold some fish they are just being just hard headed
today.
Well it is 11am and I will head back to Yellow Creek for Lunch seeing the fish are
not hungry. I might be talked into a Hamburger and fries. This is where the Fillin Station comes in that I
mentioned earlier. It is at Aqua Marine where you can tie up your boat, walk up a ramp and eat lunch on a
patio or sit inside and relax. Now is the time to think what I did or did not do right this morning to boat any
fish. Some times when I come up to Pick Wick, it might take me three days to find the fish or find out what the
fish want, but I usually do, out of 30 years I have only gone home empty handed once and that aint bad.
After lunch back on the lake again and will stop again at the first stop I did
this morning to see if anything has showed up on the depth finder (nothing). I have another spot a short run around
the corner that I could try a scum frog on top of some grass if the grass is there.
