Don't have to set the alarm have a auto alarm inside of me that goes off every
morning at 4:30 am and I am up and in the shower. Breakfast and of course that first cup of coffee and my orange
juice so I can take my morning pills, my Son laughs and says I don't need breakfast after 12 pills the VA has me
take in the morning. Any way three sausages patties, scramble eggs, toast and another cup of coffee and turn on the
TV to see what the weather is suppose to do today. They are saying I have a clear shot until 2pm when the rain is
moving in again so I better get going, even though the sun is not up yet will run with the lights.
I am coming out of a cove so I am not in a big hurry I am running at a idle or just
above a idle. Years ago I lost a Cousin here at Pick Wick that was coming out of a cove and a boat running down the
lake hit them sideways and killed her, both boats running at full speed and I don't think they saw each other until
it was to late. It was Dark that is why I preach about Life Jackets and Saftey on the water and it is dark and I am
not a OWL.
Once I am out in the main river I will step it up a little to get to the other side,
but still do not have to run full bore, do not know what might be floating in the water, have a hand held light to
shine ahead of me and all my boat light are on.
"Bingo ", made it to the other side safe, back the boat back to a idle and start
looking for some grass and look at the graph for fish. It is still dark and everything is so quite you can hear a
pin drop or a fish jump or splash. The sound is so peaceful, you can start to hear the birds waking up and
chirping.
Time to shut the big motor off and drop the trolling motor I think I got a spot here, heard some fishing chasing
some shad up ahead. Out comes the Buzz Bait...I know it is dark but this is when good casting comes in and also
good guess work where the grass is seeing that I can not see where the grass is. First cast I did not judge
where the grass was because I brought a ton of it back to the boat and I don't mean fish. Made a adjustment and the
second cast was alot better, no grass this time. Stay on this note and move up some more and about the fifth cast
BANG the fish blew up on the Buzz Bait but missed it. Threw it back but no luck must have tasted the hook alot of
times if a fish tastes the hook they will not touch the lure again. I move on down some more and I do pick up a few
small fish big nothing to write home about.
