We gave it out best shot at about six spots until about 2pm and them headed in and
decided to come back out this evening.
Put the boat back in the water and was going to try the Dam with the rocks right at sunset to see if we could pick
up some fish. My son was the fist to start catching some small large mouth on a small blue minnow by Storm and that
looked to be the ticket. He was using Ultra Light Spinning so that made it more fun for him. All of a sudden his
gear bent double and he had a fight on, I jumped up and grabbed the net and thought he is going to need the net for
this one, and sure enough just as he fought it up to the side of the boat, I slipped the net into the water and the
fish went into the net just in time when all of a sudden the hook came free and popped up into the air. At first my
Son thought he had lost the fish and I smiled and pulled the net up to show him I had the fish in the net, and I
ask him "who caught this fish". What made this so special it was his first Small Mouth and neither one of us knew
it at first that was what he had caught until we were looking for the camera to get a picture and the scale to
weigh it. The Small Mouth weighed 3 pounds and was returned back to the water and I forgot to tell my Son he was
suppose to kiss the fish before he put it back in the lake. That was the big event that night we ended up getting
hung up with the rest of the blue minnows and breaking off and you can bet we were off the next day to find some
more.
All week Mother Nature did not cut us any slack with the heat and the fish must
have found a great place to hide because we could not find them we even went to 60 feet of water at 11:30 at night
with no luck.
Don't think I let my Son show me up one early evening I did get on some fish with a
Texas Rig and caught about 11 nice Bass while they were pulling but when they shut down so did the fish. But that
is one week with my Son I would never trade for all the money in the world.
Don't let the time go take your Son or Daughter and see just what I am talking about.
